TackStop — Evaporation-Control ConcentrateField mixing guide

Slow evaporation. Keep film workable longer.

Add TackStop to your prepared slip solution. It slows water loss on hot glass, giving you more time to position the film before it tacks.

Window film

Pressure-sensitive · CDA · Architectural · Automotive

  1. 01

    What to expect

More time to position the film.

TackStop slows water evaporation so the film stays workable longer, especially on hot glass.

  2. 02

    Mix

    Prepare the slip solution first.

Mix your usual commercial slip solution, add TackStop last, and blend gently.

  3. 03

    Starting dose

    Measure TackStop by fluid ounce.

PS: 1 fl oz per gallon or ¼ fl oz per 32 fl oz sprayer. CDA: start at half that dose.

  4. 04

    Adjust

Add more only when you need more working time.

Increase by ½ fl oz per gallon, test again, and stop at 2 fl oz per gallon total.

Path 02 · Early field testing

PPF

Paint protection film · Test your exact setup

  1. 01

    What to expect

Fewer lift lines, ghosting, and chicken skin.

In early testing, installers are also reporting no visible artifacts behind the film and that it tacks when they want it to.

  2. 02

    Mix

Prepare the PPF slip solution first.

Mix your usual slip solution, add TackStop last, and blend gently.

  3. 03

    Starting dose

    Use the standard window-film dose.

Start with: 1 fl oz per gallon or ¼ fl oz per 32 fl oz sprayer. Measure it—do not count pumps.

  4. 04

    Adjust

Add more only when you need more working time.

Increase by ½ fl oz per gallon, test again, and stop at 2 fl oz per gallon total.

Early field observations, not a guaranteed result. Test your exact PPF and slip mix before a full installation.

Window film + PPF mixing instructions

How to add TackStop to your slip solution.

  1. 1

    Prepare the slip solution.

Prepare your commercial slip solution at its manufacturer’s recommended rate before TackStop goes in.

  2. 2

Measure TackStop and add it last.

For PS film, add 1 fl oz per gallon. For CDA film, start at ½ fl oz per gallon. Measure it—do not count pumps.

  3. 3

Blend gently and test the film.

Blend gently, then test the film and mix you plan to use before committing to the full installation.

CDA starting dose

Start at half the standard dose: ½ fl oz per US gallon or ⅛ fl oz per 32 fl oz sprayer. Test your film and prepared slip mix before a full installation.

Extreme-heat adjustment

If the starting dose is not enough for the conditions, add another ½ fl oz per gallon and test again. Stop at 2 fl oz per US gallon total.

Dose adjustments

How to adjust the mix.

Start with the dose for the adhesive. Test it with the film, slip solution, and glass temperature on the job. Increase the dose only if you need more working time.

Pressure-sensitive film: Start with 1 fl oz per gallon or ¼ fl oz per 32 fl oz sprayer.

CDA film: Start at half the standard dose: ½ fl oz per gallon or ⅛ fl oz per 32 fl oz sprayer.

Extreme heat: Add ½ fl oz per gallon, test again, and do not exceed 2 fl oz per gallon total.

Mixing questions

TackStop mixing FAQ.

What is TackStop?

TackStop is an additive for prepared window film installation slip solution. It slows water evaporation so film stays workable longer while you position it.

Does TackStop replace my slip solution?

No. Prepare your normal commercial slip solution at its manufacturer’s recommended rate first, then add TackStop.

How much should I add?

For pressure-sensitive window film and PPF, start with 1 fluid ounce per US gallon, or 1/4 fluid ounce per 32 fluid ounce spray bottle. For CDA film, start at half that dose: 1/2 fluid ounce per US gallon, or 1/8 fluid ounce per 32 fluid ounce spray bottle. If you need more working time, increase by 1/2 fluid ounce per gallon at a time, up to 2 fluid ounces per US gallon total.

Which films can I use it with?

TackStop was designed for pressure-sensitive window film adhesives where early tack is the problem. It has also been used with CDA films in field testing; for CDA film, start at half the standard dose. Test it with your specific film and slip mix before a full installation.

Can I add more when the glass is extremely hot?

Yes. Start at the standard rate, then increase gradually by 1/2 fluid ounce per gallon only when needed. Do not exceed 2 fluid ounces per US gallon.

What are installers seeing with PPF?

In early PPF field testing, installers have reported fewer lift lines, less ghosting and less chicken skin. In the tested setups, they have also reported no visible artifacts behind the film and that it tacks when they want it to. Results can vary with the PPF, slip mix and installation conditions, so test your exact setup before a full installation.

Why should I measure instead of counting pumps?

Pump output varies. Measure TackStop in fluid ounces so the dose is repeatable from one bottle or sprayer to another.

Where can I find safety and handling information?
